The Sundance is one of the seven sacred ceremonies given to the Lakota people. It is a very powerful and sacred ceremony that has withstood severe oppression many times since it was given to the People. Piercing is the most sacred part of the sundance ceremony. It is representitive of the sacrifice that the individual makes for the good of the tribe and all of mankind.
