Pow Wow
In 1989, the Plains Indian Museum of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody WY decided to sponsor a museum exhibition documenting the modern day powwow (as it was in 1989). While styles have changed since then, much has not. This book creates a wonderful snapshot in time of what the powwow was then and includes a wealth of photos of dance cloths, dancers, and dances. The book describes what a powwow is, the music, the dance, the clothing, feathers (with a great section on the legal issues which are still accurate today), give-a-ways, grand entry, specials, judging, the 49, and more.
