The Ledgerbook of Thomas Blue Eagle
Inspired by the remarkable pictographs of the Plains Indians that were created in the late 19th century, this book is an introduction for readers to that unique form of Native American art. Plains Indian artists drew narrative pictographs as a way of recording important events in their lives. Some, like Thomas Blue Eagle, made their drawings in ruled ledgers they acquired in trade or at school. This story is the fictional account of a young Sioux warrior, his childhood on the Plains, his journey East and his adventures at the Carlisle Indian School. Wonderful!
